The VEA in its new office by Geoff Kreis PVG Staff PAHRUMP- A brand new office for the Valley Electric Association (VEA) expands the company for major future business in the fast growing town of Pahrump. The new 13,000 square foot facility opened on Monday October 13, at a cost of $1.5 million and has a new drive- up window that makes it much easier for the customers to pay their bills. The new facility also has a night time deposit ma- chine, which they' ve always had, that is located next to the drive-up window. Valley Electric's new fa- cility is located on Highway 372, next to their old office that was constructed in the spring of 1981. The VEA engineering department will be moving out of the ware- house and into the old build- ing that will give them more room. "Our growth has gained from 4,000 electric meters in 1981 to over 12,000 meters now." said Joe McCauley, director of mem- ber service. "The old build- ing got too small for us with everything from the power crew, membership crew, employee crew and engineering crew all growing with the rapid growth of the town." The facility has gone through a rapid growth of employ- ees in the past 10 years from 33 people to 84 working for the company. The VEA will keep striving to keep up with the growth of the valley, as it too will grow just as fast.
