JvLst another Goldfield day
So, here I am. Driving through the lonely and desolate desert
around midnight. I'm approaching Goldfield when all of a sudden
there's a series of huge BOOMS. KA-BOOM, KA-BOOM -- six
times.
I slam on the brakes, jump out of the car and cast my eyes into the
sky. A huge fireball descends from the heavens. WHOOSH! KA-
BOOM.
"My gosh," I scream at the empty highway, "What
is it?"
I stand there completely dumbfounded by what has
occurred. As quickly as it started it ended. After a few
minutes I get back in my car and continue on toward
Goldfield.
My mind goes to work on the fantastic events that
have happened before me.
Space aliens? Naw, they wouldn't be interested in
Goldfield.
Maybe it's the ghosts of the Goldfield Hotel? Nope.
Too far away for that.
I know. t It's a commissioners meeting. Sure. Makes
sense.
Sure thought I had it all figured out. Then came the
news. Just a misguided rocket.
If it had landed on the courthouse then I'd have been
it was a commissioners meeting.
It could have been worse.
I wonder if it had landed in Slim's backyard, would he have
noticed? If it had hit the Goldfield Hotel it would have been their
first check-in in how long?
