kindergartners
need your help
Kindergartners in Mrs.
Mills' class are collecting alu-
minum cans to learn about
recycling and to earn money
for educational materials for
their classroom and school.
In addition to recycling the
cans, Manse students are pull-
ing the tabs off the cans to
donate to a girl who is in need
of kidney dialysis. She re-
ceives one free minute ofdi-
aly.sis for each tab.
If you would like to do-
natecans, they can be dropped
off at Manse Elementary
School at any time. Look for
the sign on the fence on the
west side of the school and
just toss your cans over.

Yucca mountain
acting project
manager named
On October 3, 1997, Russ
Dyer was named Acting
Project Manager for the U.S.
Department of Energy's
(DOE) Yucca Mountain Site
Characterization Project
(YMP). Dr. Dyer holds a doc-
torate in geology. He is as-
suming responsibility for the
UMP from the retiring Project
Manager Wesley E. Barnes.
Dyer will have overall respon-
sibility for the study of Yucca
Mountain as a potential site
for the nation's first spent fuel
and high-level radioactive
waste repository.
