Radio show, live! by Mary Ann McNeill Gazette Staff PAHRUMP--"On the Air America" was the third annual Pahrump Visual and Performing Arts Council's effort on Satur- day night at the Pahrump Valley Winery ampitheater. The show aired like an old-fashioned radio show with sound ef- fects and everything-- only it was very visual! Last year they had a dif- ficult time with the sound system and there were mo- ments in which the action ..- didn'tflow smoothly. But this year they were right on! Lynn Peterson and Terry Sonneson are pro- fessional singers that do Pahrump proud. They arc always the very best of the group.. But their scenic views were rivaled by the cvte antics and fast move qf Donna's Dancers and. :- tally High Energy Danc- ers, with Alison Eleogram and Susan Brown doing solos. It would be extremely difficult to steal the scene from any of the above but Carlton McCaslin, usually cast in a pivotal role as the cantankerous old man-- good or evil--usually, does. This time he is the kindly old radio an- nouncer, ala Colonel Sand- ers of the chicken house fame. The sound effects were right on and amply coordi- nated by Janet Toy and Halli Burchett. If anyone out there admits to being old enough to remember these old time radio shows, they will even appreciate the fast-paced, lively ren- ditions of Mocha Yocha, Crispy Craeklin Crunehies, Barracuda Loan Co., Java Time, and Super Sudsy Soap com- mercials. Remaining cast mem- bers were Mikel Steven, AI Portwood, Fran Wagner, John Bales, Lea Bales, Ron Eason and Ken Murphy. This group gets better and better. Can't wait to see what they do next ...... ) time. Rocks and minerals combine to create a beautiful backbone for the planet Earth. Water is a powerful force in our environment.
