Pahrump Valley Gazette, Thursday, September 11, 1997 AA1 'Asteroid,' a little rocky by Barney Basin Gazette Reviewer We've had "Twister," "Dante's Peak" and "Earthquake," all dealing with nature's fury. We've had "Mars' Attack" and "Independence Day" dealing with aliens trying to extermi- nate earthlings. The logical next step is a natural disaster from outer space. Welcome to the basic premise of "Asteroid." A comet passes by earth and in its shadow are a bunch of ...... hot little rocks ready to rain fire and destruction down on earth. Somehow I think I prefer the idea of a flying saucer taking humanity to a happy hunting haunt. It appears that one of these asteroids is going to fall on the commercial, commerce center of the United States, Kansas City? Through the efforts of FEMA the area is evacuated and disaster is avoided. Now there is a real piece of fiction, a government agency operating efficiently. However we are only halfway through the film, there is more to come. There are bigger and nastier asteroids also headed toward another major U.S. ciIy. If this film had been made in Japan, by now Gozilla would have had Tokyo destroyed. Dallas is the target city this time. That puts a real crunch into the Cowboy's season. Disaster does Dallas ahead of Debbie, one million extra get killed but all of the happy habitual heroes survive so they can do "Asteroid H." Michael Biehn and Annabella Sciorra star in this video. There are many familiar faces from the world of television, of course that would stand to reason due to "Asteroid" being a TV mini-series last season. If you missed it on TV, it's worth catching before the new season starts. C,00aang_V_ad00 G I 00URT met00m I
