Sousa on parade
The Nevada Symphonic
Wind Ensemble, conducted
by Dr. Richard L. McGee,
will once again enlighten all
with its popular Sousa con-
cert series on Sunday, Sep-
tember 28 at 2 p.m. at Com-
munity College of Southern
Nevada.
Selections will include the
familiar marches of the great
John Phillip Sousa, as well as
great standard literature for
concert band.
"Sousa on Parade" will be
performed at the Nicholas
Horn Theatre on CCSN's
Cheyenne campus, located at
3200 E. Cheyenne Ave, one
mile east of I- 15 North. Tick-
ets are $10 for adults, and $8
for students and seniors. For

Obituaries
Mable Gibson
Mable Irene Gibson, 73, died August 2, 1997,
at a Las Vegas hospital.
A homemaker, she was born August 15,1923,
in Ashland, Mo., and was a 10 year resident of
Pahrump, coming from Lawndale, Calif.
She is survived by her son, Don of Reno;
daughters, Irene Elliot and Carlene Scholtka both
of Pahrump; brother, J.R. Wilhite of Diamond
Bar, Calif.; sister, Maxine Altom of Rowland
Heights, Calif., six grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
Private services were held. Arrangements were
handled by the Neptune Society of Nye County.
Iris Bartl ......
Iris Bartl, 72, died on August 9, 1997, at a Las
Vegas hospital. "
A homemaker and a member of the Pabrump
Valley Dust Devils, she was born February 9,
1925, in Juntura, Ore., and was an 18 year resi-
dent of Pahrump.
She is survived by her husband, William of
Pahrump; daughters, Kay O'Krakel of Ca/dwell,
Iowa, Jennie Cemellis of Austin, Texas, Geri
Alger of Leander, Texas; son, Max Schmitz of
Middleton, Iowa; 11 grandchil-
dren and 2;/great grandchildren.

Jorge Palacios
Jorge Palacios, 31, died Au-
gust 1, 1997, in a car accident in
San Diego County.
A police chief of the State
Police of BajaCalifornia, he was
visiting relatives in Pahrump.
The accident occurred on his
return trip to his home in Tijuana.
He was born on July 28, 1966, in
Tijuana, Mexico.
He is survived by his wife,
Rebeca; son, Jorge both of
Tijuana; mother, Minerva and
vices, Summer Youth Em-
ployment Program apprecia-
tion luncheon will be held
August 15, noon to 2 p.m. at
the No to Abuse Youth Cen-
ter, 1471 E. Highway 372.
Worksite supervisors and
youths are invited to cel-
ebrate the close of the pro-
gram.
Parkinson support
group meets
The National Parkinson
Foundation will hold its first
Pahrump support group meet-
ing for Parkinson patients and
caregivers. The meeting will
be held at the Bob Ruud Com-
munity Center, 150 N High-
way 160, on Saturday, Au-
gust 23, at 4 p.m.

Brian Bergen of Mt. Lake Terrace, Wash; 19 aunts
and uncles and 20 nieces and nephews.
Services were held on August 6 in Tijuana,
Mexico.
Raymond Lee
Raymond S. Lee, 73, died August 11, 1997, at
his residence in Pahrump. He was born June 14,
1924, in Glenoive, Mont.
A retired radiological science engineer for
Reynolds Electric and an Army veteran, he was a
five year resident'of Pahrump, coming from Las
Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Pahrump;
sons, Bill of Mexico, Russel of Las Vegas, Larry
Weems of Missouri; daughters, Sharon Capel and
Zel Bales both of Pahrump, Eilene Keeny and Gina
Mize both of Las Vegas; sister, Doris Snedden of
Oregon and seven grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Arrange-
ments are being handled by the Neptune Society of
Nye County.
