Briefly Noted Pahrump Valley Gazette, Thursday, August 7, 1997 3 Living trust seminar The Pahrump VFW Post 10054, 4651 Homestead Road is offering a free seminar about living trusts on August 11, 7 p.m. Understand the differ- ences between a will and liv- ing trust. AAIP will be presenting the seminar. The "living trust" offered at the seminar is $399 for the lifetime of the trust. Harvest Festival parade entry forms now available Entry forms for this year's Annual Harvest Festival Pa- rade are now available at the Chamber of Commerce. The parade will be held Saturday, September 13, Festival week- end. The theme of the parade is "Pahrump and Progress." Entry deadline is Friday, August 15. Mark your calen- dars and start planning. VFW dinner and dance PAHRUMP -VFW Post 10054 and auxiliary will host a dinner and dance, Aug. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the VFW Post. Baked ham and scal- loprd potato dinner includes green beans, salad, rolls, and dessert, donation of $4. Dance to the Sage Brush Band at 7 p.m. and enjoy some really good cooking. CCSN registration PAHRUMP -Community College of Southern Nevada will conduct open registration during the entire month of August at PVHS from 6-8 p.m. Classes begin the week of Sept "-. For more information call ban at 751-3452. Job readiness workshop PAHRUMP - The Pahr- ump Family Resource Center is hosting a Jobs Workshop Aug. 20, at the Pahrump Com- munity Center, Room B. This workshop will include look- ing for the right job, where to look to find a job, filling out applications, resume writing, interviewing, dressing for the interview and follow-up to land that job. Library has the Nevada Experience ROUND MOUNTAIN - On Aug. 14 and 19 experi- ence a "Scandinavian Castle, early fire engines, and the making of Nevada mints." The Round Mountain Pub- lic Library will host a one hour historic video on the "Nevada Experience." All Nevada historians and interested patrons are wel- come. This presentation is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Nevada Humanities Com- mittee, Carson City. Beatty Chamber of Commerce events BEATTY - The Beatty Chamber of Commerce re- opened July 17 after being closed for over a month. Norma Hamilton of the cham- ber is enthusiastic about Beatty's upcoming events. In the Beatty Park, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m., there will be a potluck picnic. Following the picnic will be a "white el- ephant" auction at 7 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Beatty Museum Building Fund. The Miss Beatty Beauty Pageant will be held Aug. 30, also in the park. Crafters Village plans fall show LAS VEGAS- The Crafters Village will be at the Cashman Field Exhibit Hall at 850 North Las Vegas Blvd. September 12,13 and 14. The show features the world's fin- est artisans and craftsmen along with entertainment and gourmet food. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children 6-18 years old. Health Fair, August 20 A Health Fair is scheduled at Saddle West Convention Center on Wednesday, Aug.20, 7a.m. - 2 p.m. Health screens will be of- fered by Washoe Health Sys- tem staff. Blood pressure, lung function, stress, blood chem- istry panel, prostate antigen and other tests will be avail- able. Fees will be charged ac- cording to tests requested. Anyone planning on lab work must fast for 12 hours, coffee, tea or water are acceptable. Handicapped and diabetic participants will be scheduled 7-8 a.m.; senior citizens (over 55), 8-10 a.m.; 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. will be open to the com- munity. You must be 18 years old I to attend.
