You can sure tell its summer in Amargosa Valley, the
donations are really coming in. Thanks to the following for
their donatioas: John and Avoia Young for the veggies; Gayla
Leake for the wonderful plums, home grown and William and
Sue Smith for the cabbage.
Our prayers and sympathy to Kathy Welch.
Good luck to Muriel Spears on her class reunion.
We had an excellent council meeting Tuesday evening,
there were seven of the board members present. Paula was
unable to join us due to a heavy work load.
We need a program director for senior function, I hear that
this is one of the reasons no one is coming to eat. There has
been interest in running the van to breakfast at Longstreet,
while its $2.95 special is running. Leave your name at the
desk if you are interested in this, and we will get it set up. Let's
see all the action.

It's time again to bring you up-to-date on the happenings
at the Senior Center.
We had a special treat Thursday celebrating June birthday's.
As usual, our precious cook, Minnie, did an outstanding job
baking and decorating the cake. Those in the spotlight were
Haskell Karl, Bob Lawless, Kit Carson, Minnie Perehetti,
Inez Cartantini and Maggie Trueba. We even celebrated for
those we don't see too often, Mary Fields, Harold McMaines,
Charles Paul, Dan Skanovsky, Dorothy Smith and Alice
Zinn. We wish all of you a happy birthday and hope your day
was extra special.
Have you visited the Senior Thrift Shop lately? If not, do
so soon. It has a great selection of items, "fixnn soup to nuts"
as the saying goes. Just kiddingl But seriously, you could
easily find just the thing you've been looking for. We thank
you folks who donat so generously and those of you who
rngularty shop at the facility. Timre is one thing that is needed,
clodmsracks for displaying more garmeaits, ff anyone has an
extra one laying around in your stornge shed, give Pat a call
at 482-3976 It would be greatly appreciated.
We will be closed on Friday, July 4, to enable our staff to
join in the Independence Day festivities and pay tribute to our
nation for making otur country a wontka'fid place to live.
We had a great week, a great group, great food and a groat
time this week. Our biggest joy is visiting with our friends,
sharing our good time and bad times and most of all living a
healthy and happy life together. We may be getting older but
always remember, "even a turtle makes progress when it
sticks it's neck out."
