Assessment of
entering
kindergarten
TONOPAH - The Nye
County School District an-
nounced that the days of
Aug. 25-27, 1997 will be
set aside for assessment of
entering kindergarten stu-
dents. Children wilt not at-
tend school on these days;
the first day of class for kin-
dergarten students is Thurs-
day, Augu.28.
School officials will at-
tempt to contact all parents
who pre-registered their
children for kindergarten to
set up an appointment for
assessment. Parents may
call schools now or during
the weeks of Aug. 11 - 18
for appointment times. If
parents have questions
about kindergarten screen-
ing, they may get informa-
tion from Rosemary
O'Brien, of Curriculum,
NCSD, 1-800-796-6273 in
Tonopah.
Cabral Tae Kwon
Do center
The Cabral Tae Kwon Do
center is having a huge rum-
mage sale Saturday, June
28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in
Pahrump at 311 S. Frontage
Road #2. There will also be
a car wash at Smith's. Pro-
ceeds will help support a
September tournament.

Nye County 4-H
enrollment July 7
It's time to enroll in 4-H.
Nye County 4-H enroll-
ment is due to 4-H leaders
or the Extension Office by
July 7. Enrollment dues this
year are $1 to cover insur-
ance.
Each youth is responsible
for ihe cost of project mate-
rials.
There are clubs on rab-
bits, pocket pets, sewing,
sheep, scrapbook, cooking,
ceramics and gardening.
Clubs are forming accord-
ing to children's interest.
Volunteer leaders are
needed.
The 4-H is a family af-
fail for youths 3-19. Par-
ents must attend with their
children. Parents and other
interested adults are invited
to call the Extension Office
and volunteer. Meeting
dates and times will be de-
termined by those enroll-
ing. An organizational
meeting will be held July
15, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Ex-
tension Office on Dande-
lion and Calvada in Pahr-
ump. Interested youth and
adults are encouraged to at-
tend.
Cost of clubs vary de-
pending upon project mate-
rials. For further informa-
tion contact the Nye County
Extension Office in Pahr-
ump at 727-5532.

American

Veterans
There will be no meeting
of the Disabled American
Veterans, Post #15 for the
months of July and August.
The next meeting will be
Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7:30
p.m. at Comstock Park
Community Center, Pahr-
ump.

ride to the Las Vegas Clinic

Humane Society
yard sale
The Pahrump Humane
Society is having a giant
yard sale Saturday, June 28,
from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. All
proceeds go toward care of
the animals.
The Pahrump Humane
Society is located off High-
way 372. Turn south at
Desert Connections and you
will see the Humane Soci-
ety and No to Abuse signs.
