Hot Air Balloon event added for
"Butler Days"
The Tonopah Rotary Club has scheduled a new fund-
raising activity for Jim Butler Days, the "Hot Air Bear
Affair," a hot air balloon event that will take place at Highland
Park on May 24-26.
The Rotary Club is selling small teddy bears which will be
dropped a target in the park from the balloons. Prizes given
for the closest bears will be - fust, $250, second $125 and $75
for third.
Only 250 bears will be sold at the Radio Shack and the Rea
Co. For $10 you get the numbered teddy bear and a square of
cloth to decorate and use as a parachute.
Proceeds from the fund-raider will go towards the Kid's
Fishing Derby in June and the Rotary Scholarship which is
awarded each year.
Isenhower elected Post
Commander
Chuck Isenhower was elected post commander of VFW
Post 10054 and Auxiliary for 1997-98 at the group's April
meeting.
The full list of officers elected at the monthly meeting were:
Post Commander - Chuck Isenhower, St. Vice Com-
mander - Andy Anderson, Jr. Vice Commander - Robert
Barquist, Quartermaster - Herb Switzer, Adjutant - Ed
McClintock, Surgeon - Robert Lehtonen, Judge Advocate -
Red Dolan, 3-year Trustee - David Cardwell, 3-year House
Committee - Rudy Novotny, Service Officer - Bob Barquist,
Officer of the day - Red Dolan.
Incoming officers for the auxiliary are: President- Marilyn
Switzer, St. Vice - Pam Lehtonen, Jr. Vice - Jan Picketing,
Treasurer - Chic Nordby, Chaplain - Rhoda McDonald,
Guard - Donna Gonzolez, 3-gear Trustee - Jan Dolan, Con-
ductress - Virginia Sweeney.
The installation of new officers will be held May 23, 7 p.m.
at the Post home on Homestead Road. All members and
guests are welcome. There will be a buffet after the installa-
tions. All members of the VFW and Auxiliary are urged to
attend this function to meet the new officers and sliow support
for Post 10054 and its Auxiliary.
