"The Preacher's Wife, Like an Angel's Kiss"
by Barney Basin

Like the kiss of an gngei "The Preacher's Wife" is a film that
make you feel all warm and fuzzy. No hell-raiser or heaven-
dropper is this film, but rather one that leaves you with that good
all over feeling.
Sharp, sparkling, snappy dialogue, coupled with witty writ-
ing, and the delicate directorial touch of Penny Marshall made
this supernatural story appear natural.
The story is about the angel Dudley, look him up in your book
of Genesis, who is sent to earth to revive a revivalist's romance.
Now this dude, Dudley is no dud, so he dedicatedly does
daring deecEs to discharge a flame of romance in this duo.
The wife of this man of the cloth happens to be one good
looking heavenly body. Under the adage of it takes one to know
one Dudley accidentally falls in love with her.
In the end the romance is rekindled, Dudley's deed is done and
all is fight with the world.
Of course the time frame for this story is Christmas, so bits of
"It's a Wonderful Life" and other Christmas angel story appear,
but even that doesn't take the bow off this package.
Courtney B. Vance was well cast as the troubled preacher
who spent to much time with his flock and not enough with his
number one ewe.
Whitney Houston was heavenly as the preacher's wife. The
two most important parts of her role were to look beautiful and
to sing with soul. She made both appear and sound easy.
Denzel Washington was charming as the angel Dudley.
Jenifer Lewis, as Whitney's mother delivered some of the
funniest lines in the script.
The only fault in this video was everyone's costume always
appeared new and clean, but even that could be forgiven, after all
isn't cleanliness next to godliness.
