Good Morning! Another sunny, cool, breezy morning!
Improvements are being made in the downtown area with
several blocks getting a facelift in the form of new sidewalks !
Fred Anderson is in charge of
--- this project along with his
Esmeralda County Mainte-
nance Crew which includes
Patrick Sniffin, Adam
Chaparro, John Gordon. With
Bud Johns, head of the road
department, and his crew con-
sisting of Rocky Frye, Tim
O'Neal, Richard Miller, Bink
Buel and the Utility Crew Joe
Elsea and Mike Anderson all
doing a fine job!
The In'st sidewalk runs in
front of the Community Cen-
ter from Euclid to 5th Av-
enue, while the other one goes
from Euclid to Franklin in
front of the Fire Department
Building and the Tex Rickard
home.
This project was funded by the Esmeralda County Road
Department.
Another change taking place in our area is that the local
Wells Fargo Bank in Tonopah is being purchased by Nevada
State Bank!
The transition will take place in July according to the
Tonopah spokesperson. Most customers have received a
letter from Joseph P. Stiglich, Executive Vice President of
Wells Fargo, which includes these two sentences which the
writer is quoting: "We decided to sell your branch BECAUSE
IT IS LOCATED IN A COMMUNITY WITHOUT CON-
VENIENT ACCESS TO OTHER WELLS FARGO BANK-
ING LOCATIONS! That lack of access to our Anytir"
Anywhere Banking network of traditional branches, in-stot.
locations, and ATM's precludes us from offering you the full
benefits of banking with Wells Fargo."
Well now, when they took over from FIB, (First
Interstate Bank), they certainly knew it was located in
Tonopah which is in a rural part of Nevada and NOT close
to anywhere else[ Don't their officials visit these areas
BEFORE taking over? For the local and area businesses
this will mean throwing out all their checkbooks, and
business supplies they just purchased from Wells Fargo
after switching over last year after Bank of America
closed in Tonopah.
