As jury selection for the
trial of Oklahoma City bomb-
ing suspect Timothy McVeigh
enters its eighth day in Denver,
his lawyer is brushing off a
story about an angry letter his
client wrote. McVeigh wrote
an Oklahoma reporter, saying
the 81 Branch Davidian cult-
ists who died in Waco, Texas,
suffered "a slow torturous death
as they were gassed and burned
alive at the hands of the FBI."
Attorney Stephen Jones says
nothing in the letter has any
bearing on the Oklahoma City
case. McVeigh is charged with
the bombing that killed 168
people at the Oklahoma City
federal building in 1995 ex-
actly two years after the Waco
disaster.
