Overnight Vandalism resolved Quietly By Andy Holtmann A heated dispute between several youths and a local family over driving speeds is now being quietly resolved. On Wednesday March 14, a group of youths apparently vandalized the home of Don and Eva Price on Leslie Street. Rocks were thrown through the north windows of the resi- dence, damaging part of the interior. According to the Nye County Sheriff's department, the incident began when a car that was traveling on a road in front of the Price's car was speeding and kicking up rocks. When the Price's yelled at the occupants of the other car to slow down, they then proceeded to speed up and yell hack. The situation seemed to be over and the Price family went home. Later that night, the yemthfid occupants of the speeding car that arrived at the Price home with several other individuals. They began pelting the house with rocks and breaking windows The Price family was home at the time of the attack and Mrs. Price called the sheriff. A description of the original car was given and that vehicle was pulled over shortly thereafter. "The subjects were detained and a witness was brought to the scene," said Sargeant Bill Becht. "Due to inconsistent statements from the witnesses and the fact that it did not occur in our presence, no one was cited." Mrs. Price's son, Duelbrock claimed that he was hit in the chest by a flying beer bottle. "It hit me in the chest and left a big red mark," he said. "I went to where they (police) pulled them over and identified who did it." Authorities stated, however, that after investigation of the scene, no beer bottles were found in the area. There were estimated to be anywhere from 10-20 minors who participated in the vandalism. Only one, however, has had a criminal complaint made against him. Since the incident, two other youths have come forward to apologize for the incident. The father of one has even offered to pay for the $230 worth of damage. "It was just a kids' prank," said one witness to the incident. "They messed up and got caught. It's over and done with for now." "We want to thank the two kids who have come forward," Mrs. Price said. "The only thing else we would want would be for the rest of the kids involved to help the father of the one kid who said he would pay for damages."
