Town Manager's Report

The following is a list of activities during the last few
weeks I would like to report on:
1. Fire Department - The fire department recently
implemented a 90 to 120 day pilot program of overnight
manning at station one. The purpose of this program is to
decrease the amount of time it takes to get emergency
equipment out of the building after a call out. The
program works by assigning two firefighters at station one
every night from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. seven days a week.
Firefighters are paid $50 for a twelve hour shift. This
program has dramatically improved response times and
personnel are now able to respond immediately with the
EMS squad to provide the necessary safety and security
during motor vehicle accidents and other incidents in-
volving rescue and emergency abatement.
2. Proposed Multi-Purpose Facility Feasibility Study
- HSA Architects is currently performing the necessary
,lackground information for the proposed multipurpose
'asibility study. They are anticipating completing this

study shortly and making their presentation at the Town
Board meeting on January 27, 1997.
3. Quarterly Financial Report - Mr. Mike Cox will
be present at the next Town Board meeting to give the
quarterly financial report. This is the quarterly report
through December 31, 1996. In speaking to Mr. Cox, he
would also like to schedule the budget hearings at this
time.
4. Staff Projects - Currently, staff is continuing to
work on improvements in the Community Center. Doors
are being replaced on restrooms and stalls are being
modified toimeet ADA requirements. In addition, main-
tenance staff is assisting the Fire Department in cleaning
and making repairs to all fire stations, hnprovements
include installation of signs, flagpoles, and other items to
improve the iappearance and functioning of each station.
5. Remirlder - The next town board meeting will be
held on Monday, January 27 to accommodate the Nuclear
Waste meetings to be held Tuesday, January 28 and
Wednesday, January 29.
