" * McRae questions brothel advertising - Cameron McRae announcl an individual or indi- viduals have sent his office documentation and a letter regarding the alleged advertising practices of brothels in Nye County. McRae asked county staff to review and answer two questions: Were the docu- ments delivered and are they in violation of Nevada Revised Statutes? The Pahrump Valley Gazette was unable to obtain specifics, so at this time. it is unknown which brothel or brothels are involved or what type of advertising is being practiced, but McRae said the advertisements are pub- lished in Los Angeles. In other correspondence and announcements made, McRae reported receipt of two Christmas checks from 40 Bar Ranch, Inc. The two checks were for the Pahrump Senior Center, $500, and the Pahrump Valley Volunteer Fire Department, $250. * County close to settlement in federal lawsuit - According to Deputy District Attorney Gary Pulliam, the county will conduct a telephone conference January 17, "To let the judge know we're close to settling," in the Federal lawsuit in which the county is a defendant. Meanwhile, the possessory use tax case, in which the county is the plaintiff, "went fairly well," according to Pulliam.
